Time for TransformersCon.

TransformersCon, Canada's Transformers Convention, is happening this weekend in Toronto. Now, Ii don't really need to explain why this is going to be awesome, do I? There's going to be guests, panels, toys, and fellow fans. What more could you ask for?

Well, there is one more thing. It's that huge project I was talking about. Just like last year, I was asked to draw an 8 page comic for the convention program. The story started in this comic will be concluded in a live script reading with original Transformers voice actor Michael Bell. People enjoyed the comic I did last year, but I think that this time my work is much better. I might have something else up my sleeve for the art contest too, so look forward to it! I'm sure that everything will be online eventually, so stay tuned. But I hope you can make it to the convention to see it all in person. Please come say hello if you see me there!

Project = Complete.

As of this Saturday morning, I'm finished with the big art project I mentioned in my last post. It was a long, tough project, and it would have gone a lot smoother if I weren't sick last month. But it came down to the wire with only a few days left, and it was up to me to pull it together and finish.

As the due date drew closer, I was operating on very little sleep and wasn't really eating much. My wrist was being put under so much pressure that it had all the strength of a bundle of wet spaghetti. On the last day I pretty much pulled an all nighter to get it all done, not really knowing if I could finish it or not. At one point I took a walk to the mall and bought myself a couple cans of Red Bull. This is newsworthy because normally I completely abstain from beverages of that sort, but drastic times called for drastic measures. The first one I drank didn't seem to help very much though, as I fell asleep shortly after drinking it and napped for a few hours. I worked all through the night again, ignoring the pain, and eventually got it done on time.

Of course, as soon as I was done, did I go and take a much needed rest? Nope! After submitting the artwork, I watched a few episodes of Justice League Unlimited on DVD. What can I say? Sleeping is just not that interesting.

And the verdict on the artwork now that it's done? Blown away. They are impressed. Personally, I'm just happy to have finished.

It wasn't easy. The deadline was difficult to meet, and the pain in my drawing arm was pretty unbearable at times. I had a lot of serious doubts over if I could finish on time for both of those reasons, which kind of expanded into doubts over if I was really cut out for doing this sort of thing at all. Despite all of that, doing this project made me really feel alive. I got such a charge from it. So am I cut out for this? Hell yeah I am!

Now, as far as what it is exactly that I am talking about... you'll just have to wait until next time. But if you want to see it for yourself, I'll say right now that you'll get your chance to do so this weekend if you'll be in the Toronto area. Look forward to it!

Busy.

I have a gigantic art related project that must be finished by Friday night.

I don't know how I'm going to do this! In fact, I shouldn't be writing this right now. I'm wasting to much time. So back to work I go.

I'll tell everyone about it later.

Damn my wrist hurts!

One More Piece!

Well now, this is certainly a bit of unexpected and welcomed news!

One Piece will not die! Funimation has picked up the ball, and will be continuing where 4Kids left off with a brand new TV version, plus releasing the entire series on DVD, uncut! Check out the details here.

The 4Kids dub was really terrible. They skipped many episodes, replaced muskets with water guns, changed characters skin colours to be more politically correct, and turned what should have obviously been a fun adventure show into a soulless and insulting kids show that was a chore to watch.

Even if you don't like the show, this is still a really big deal. The fact that a show could be a huge successes in Japan, licensed for international distribution, treated poorly, fail completely, but then be given a second chance to be handled right is a very good thing in my book.

Blame my Mutant Powers.

So, despite being well into April, it has been very cold and miserable around here in Toronto. And not in the "April Showers bring May Flowers" kind of way. It's been more winterly than that.

Well, I'm sorry. It's my fault. You see, I wished for it. You can all blame it on me.

I seem to have this power. It's interesting. I don't think it's full control of the weather, like Storm from the X-Men. It's more like the ability to intimidate the weather. And since I haven't really been in the mood for sunshine, here we are with bad weather. Can't say that it bothers me all that much, but I suppose everyone else is sick of it by now.

So, I guess there's only one thing that can be done. If you want the weather to be good, give me a present. Then, if I am content, perhaps the result will be a positive change in weather. That is, of course, if my mutant power theories are indeed correct.

Anyway, obviously there is something behind all of this. The one thing that was going really well in my life, that I could be proud of if nothing else was working out, seems to be turning sour. I don't do anything to make that happen, but that looks to be the way things will be going down.

It sucks but I should be used to it by now. I carry on as usual though.

But I wouldn't mind getting into a snowball fight right about now.

Transformers + Bad English = Comedy!

Yeah, so, if you haven't figured it out by now, last week's post about the Transformers movie sneak preview was my April Fool's Day joke. The first video was obviously real, and you may have seen that running on TV by now. The other one was obviously not from the movie at all. It was a scene from the terrible and thus hilarious international English dub of the Japanese Transformers: Headmasters series. These episodes were made for the Japanese audience and based on the toys that the Japanese market was getting, and they never aired in North America. However, they were (badly) dubbed in English for other countries, and these English dubs have pretty much become infamous as some of the worst anime dubbing ever.

There are more English Headmasters clips that have been floating around YouTube, and here are some of my favorites. So the next time you feel like complaining about how your most beloved show has been butchered in the transition to English, give some of these a watch and realize that it could have been worse.

This one is great. Watch out for MILOOOOOO!

I wish I had a job that was this easy. "Darn!"

It's so obvious why this is funny.

EXCLUSIVE! New Transformers Movie Footage!

Some short previews for the upcoming Transformers movie have recently surfaced online, an will presumably be airing on television as well. There are two of them so far and they're both pretty cool. Here's one of them.

Well, I did some sneaking around and I think I have uncovered another movie preview that isn't supposed to be viewed by the public yet! This footage has never been seen before. The imagery is really powerful and the dialogue shows a lot of depth to the story line, and I just have to share it to prove to all those doubters that this movie is going to be spectacular. I'm risking a lot by putting a link to the video up here on my website, but I just couldn't keep it to myself. Watch this!

Awesome! This movie will seriously rock! Only a fool would disagree now!
