Heh heh, posting while in the middle of class.
I'm thinking about maybe doing special for Hallowe'en, such as a different design for the front page. Perhaps it could include dressing up Cyan, Amber, and Magenta in Hallowe'en costumes. So, I ask of you, what should the ladies dress up as? Hit the boards and let me know, and the ideas that I like the best just might be found up here for the month of October!

Anime I've been watching.
Yesterday I watched one of the greatest pieces of animation that I have ever seen. It was called "Secret of Cerulean Sand" (Patapata Hikousen no Bouken) and it was just beautiful. Not sure how many episodes it is, but I saw 4, and that was more than enough to say that it was awesome. The animation was incredible. The backgrounds kicked ass. And the story is complete and utter magic. It's a classic kind of story, with a adventurous young girl obsessed with trying to build a flying machine. It's really an accessible story line, set in what seems to be the old-time southern US.
This is a show that going to make a lot of anime-haters eat their words. Everyone needs to see this show. Kids essepcially need to see this show. It's phenomenal. Fansubs are currently available for download online, but this series really needs to be licensed and given a wide release. Anime fans are going to love it, but it's my hope that non-anime fans or people who generally don't give much thought to animation will love it too. It's a hundred times better than anything I've ever seen Disney put out. It's just that good. Keep an eye on it!
Other anime that I've been into include Bomberman Jetterz, Slam Dunk, Gundam ZZ, and Matantei Loki Ragnarok. All of these are also, at the time of this writing, available online as fansubs. If you're going to be joining me at Comic Book Masters this October, then perhaps you might be getting a taste of some of these shows.
Speaking of which, I've added some Photos to the Comic Book Masters website. If you were a student there last winter or spring, then there might be a shot of you there now. Since I was holding the camera, there aren't any shots of me, but there is a picture of something I drew. Check it out.

A Tired Ninja.
Special thanks goes out to Brandon Jowell, Linda, Sailorplanet, Bryan Carvalho, and Cathy-chan (aka Krispie) for signing the guestbook this month. You kids rock.
Matt Nelson has decided to stop making SuperDeformers, one of my favourite comic strips. He's become a good friend and, while I am a bit disappointed, I support him and I'll be looking forward to whatever it is that he comes up with next. If you're a fan, in any way, shape, or form, of Transformers, you'll be sure to get a chuckle out of his work. Take a look at it now while you can.
Things are generally slow around here. Despite my best efforts, the board has pretty much stopped dead in its tracks. I don't know if people are just too busy to post or if everyone is just waiting for something to happen, but it's pretty disappointing. I seriously doubt that anyone can possibly be too busy to post a little something once in awhile. This isn't supposed to be a passive experience. If you want something to happen there, well then, make something happen! Post!
I'll update the site when I'm done the Canadian National Expo 2003 article. Until then, if we were hanging out there, please e-mail me your pictures so I can use them in the report! I still haven't gotten everyone's, and I know I've asked. Thanks.
I'll end by saying that I am a tired ninja. Just in general, a tired ninja.

Nothing!
I have a class on Thursday nights scheduled from 6:30 to 9:20. I got on the bus as I usually do to get downtown. When the bus stopped at the subway station I realized that I had no way to actually get on the subway to get to school. No money, no tickets, no tokens, nothing. I have nothing! What the hell was I supposed to do? All I could do was turn around and go back home.
Damn. That freakin' sucks. Considering all of the doubts that I've been having over my continuing at that school, a blunder like that is not something I want to go through. It really makes me mad.

Drawing and PAINting.
As I eluded to last time, part of this school semester includes 2 studio classes that are 6 hours long as opposed to the usual three, and run every other week. There’s one class for drawing and another for painting. My original schedule had me down for both of those classes over the same week. By the end of the week, however, I was just so damn exhausted that I couldn’t take it. So, I dropped the Painting class in disgust of the entire system of the universe and pondered my future. Lucky for me a spot just happened to open up in the Painting class that starts this week. So now I have every other Wednesday off and every other Friday off, so things aren't so bad after all.
Today I was learning about Adobe Illustrator in class. I had stayed up late and stressed myself trying to finish the homework for that class, but it was never checked and hardly even acknowledged at all. The teacher, not being 100% familiar with the computer system we were using, was fumbling around quite a bit, making us wait for him to figure things out. This only added to how tired I was, and in my delirium I posted on the message board.
Some anime that I have recently seen includes Hajime no Ippo and Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo. Hajime no Ippo is an interesting series about boxing. While most sports anime are pretty much the same story with a different gimmick, somehow stories about young, awkward little punks who better themselves through athletics never really get old, even if you’re not a sports fan. Shin Getter vs. Neo Getter is another Super Robot smash-fest from the brain of the maniacal Go Nagai. It’s 4 episodes of pure widescreen destruction, though the title is a bit misleading since the two Getters never actually fight each other. There is, however, a hilarious American Super Robot with a cowboy motif. His hat becomes a space ship. Seriously. It rocks.

I am really freaking tired.
Today I left home to go to school at about 10 in the morning and returned home at about 11 at night. Insanity, I tell you. There was a 6 hour class that will run every other week, and it was quite draining. The teacher is a good guy who I had before. The drawing model did not show up, and so the class had the unique distinction of drawing portraits of me in a devious thinking pose. The students' drawings confirmed what I have known for quite some time: I am one evil looking dude. After class, a bunch of us went to a big library for a group project. Spent a long time there, but it was fun. Even though the hours were long and the lengthy travel time takes its toll, it was a good day.
Somehow the rumors of me not returning to school had spread around quite a bit, despite me never explicitly giving an answer one way or another. I didn't really think that I mattered all that much to become the subject of gossip. I must be a popular Ninja. While I'm sure that they'd all be having just as much fun without me, it's nice to feel like I belong somewhere.
I seem to have carved my own niche at this school. Everyone knows that I'm the tall, bearded, frowny guy. And I'm ok with that.
But I am really freaking tired.

Back to School: Day 1
Monday's class went ok. It's going to deal with Computers via Photoshop and Illustrator, things that I've been wanting this school to cover since I've been there. Of course, Photoshop I work with all the time, but Illustrator I've hardly ever used, so at least I'll be getting something new out of it all. Unfourtunatly this is happening early in the morning, and I'd much rather deal with a class like this while I'm actually awake. Oh well. As soon as I got home I fell asleep and was out like a light for several hours.
Forgot to mention this last time: Rhino is having a poll over which animated series people would like to see released on DVD. Personally, I think they all should, but I voted for some of my most favourites (Including Transformers: Headmasters and its laughably bad English dub that is just comedy gold). Please vote here!

Back to the old grind.
Just to quell some rumors: Although it's very true that I was disappointed with my last semester, I am indeed returning to the Ontario College of Art and Design on Monday for my 3rd year. My future there will depend on how this semester goes.
I have been doing my best to keep working on some website updates, even though I wasn't able to recover much of my hard drive. Expect an update in the next few weeks.
For those of you that are not on the mailing list, it would be a very good idea to subscribe now, because there just might be getting an advance look at something that won't be on the site right away. Hint hint.
I highly recommend the new Street Fighter comic by UDON. It's really, really, really good. I was really impressed. Transformers/GI Joe #1 is also a solid read.
The new school year seems to have made the message board slow down a lot. I don't know if people are just waiting for others post or if they think it's just there to talk to me, but that's not how it works. Talk about whatever you want. Don't wait for me, start posting by yourself. Don't worry if you're bringing back older topics. There's some great stuff happening there, so let's keep it going.
